Red rainfall warning up over Metro Manila, Bulacan and Bataan


State weather bureau PAGASA issued a red rainfall warning for Metro Manila and two other areas on Monday evening due to the impacts of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

Issued at 8 p.m., the red rainfall warning covers the following areas:

  • Bataan 
  • Bulacan (Obando, Meycauayan, Marilao, Bulakan, Malolos, Paombong, Hagonoy, San Jose del Monte)

With the red rainfall warning, residents are advised to take necessary precautionary measures as flooding is expected.

Meanwhile, the orange rainfall warning is up in the following areas:

  • Zambales
  • Pampanga
  • Cavite
  • Batangas
  • Laguna
  • Rizal 
  • Bulacan (Angat, Balagtas, Baliuag, Bocaue, Bustos, Calumpit, Dona Remedios Trinidad, Guiguinto, Norzagaray, Pandi, Plaridel, Pulilan, San Ildefonso, San Miguel, San Rafael, Santa Maria).

Under the orange rainfall warning, residents are advised that flooding is still threatening their areas. 

A yellow rainfall warning was also raised over Tarlac and Quezon. 

Residents in the affected areas were advised that flooding is possible in low-lying areas and near river channels.

“Meanwhile, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains affecting Nueva Ecija, which may persist within 3 hours,” PAGASA said. 

The state weather bureau urged the public and disaster risk reduction and management agencies in affected areas to take all necessary safety precautions. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
