Fire hits residential area in Tondo, Manila
A fire broke out in a residential area in Barangay 93 in Tondo, Manila before dawn on Tuesday.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Tondo Fire Station said the fire started at 3:53 a.m. at Victor Lopez Compound on Capulong Street.
The BFP raised the first alarm at 3:55 a.m.
Due to the strong winds, firemen encountered difficulty putting out the fire, according to a report by Olan Bola on Super Radyo dzBB.

The second alarm was raised at 4:03 a.m., then the third alarm at 4:12 a.m, meaning at least 50 firetrucks were needed to put out the fire.

The fire was placed under control at 5:35 a.m.
The BFP said 30 houses were damaged and 100 families lost their homes, according to a report by James Agustin on Unang Balita.
Residents said they woke up to see the fire already big. The houses in the compound were made of light materials.
Some residents lamented that they were not able to save their belongings. One man only got to bring his maintenance medicines for his heart condition. Another man said they were able to save only the clothes on their backs and their two dogs; the cash for the tuition of their children were burned in the fire.
The BFP is still investigating the cause of the fire which started on the second floor of one house.
Barangay officials said affected residents were to be brought to the basketball court for temporary shelter, and they may also put up modular tents on Capulong Street.
