9 nabbed for stealing internet cable in Quezon City
Nine individuals were arrested for allegedly stealing an underground internet cable in Quezon City, according to a Super Radyo dzBB report by Luisito Santos on Saturday.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) officer-in-charge Police Colonel Randy Glenn Silvia said that the QCPD’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) had been conducting anti-criminality operations along Quirino Highway in Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches, when they saw the suspects loading an internet cable into a van at around 12:30 a.m.
The suspects were unable to provide any documentation, and it was later confirmed by a telecommunications company that they were not authorized to conduct such activities, which led to their immediate arrest.
Several residents in the area have experienced a loss of internet connection due to the illegal activity.
Authorities seized a two-meter underground cable, cord cutters, crowbars, and a Hyundai van from the suspects. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
