After almost three hours, the fire was declared under control by 12:34 p.m.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said that he had opened a zipper lane for fire trucks earlier to respond to the blaze. Helicopters from the Office of Civil Defense and Department of National Defense also went to the area.
Authorities said the response and the heavy rains in Metro Manila may help in officially putting out the fire.
Meanwhile, Moreno shared that no less than 725 families were affected by the fire.
The local government is now coordinating with nearby schools and covered courts to be used as temporary evacuation centers. —Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/KG, GMA Integrated News
