BuCor allows PUV access anew at NBP compound
Public utility vehicles (PUV) will soon have access anew to the so-called shortcut road passing through the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) compound in Muntinlupa City to reach the other areas in the city.
According to a social media post of the Muntinlupa local government, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) "approved in principle" the return of public access to the NBP road.
A "trial implementation" will begin next week for the PUV access, adhering to clear safety guidelines.
"Ilan sa mga kondisyon na itinakda ng BuCor para sa kaligtasan ay ang 4AM to 10PM na operasyon ng mga PUV, nakatakdang pick-up at drop-off points ng mga jeep, at kailangang naka-proper attire ang mga driver, sumailalim sa drug testing, at may malinaw na identification ang mga sasakyan," the post said.
(Among the conditions set by BuCor are the 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. operation of the PUVs, designated pick-up and drop-off points, proper attire of drivers, drug test for drivers, and visible identification of vehicles.)
“Sa gitna ng education crisis, hindi dapat nadaragdagan pa ang pasanin ng ating mga estudyante. Kailangan natin ng kooperasyon, disiplina, at pasensya mula sa lahat upang maisakatuparan ito nang maayos at payapa," Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon said.
(Amid the education crisis, we should not unduly burden our students. We need cooperation, discipline and patience from everybody to have a smooth rollout of this road access scheme.)
In March 2021, then BuCor officials put up a concrete wall on the access road to the city proper as part of security enforcement, which affected several residents, including those from the National Housing Authority Southville 3. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
