Man who installed CCTV caught on cam stealing LPG tank

A man was caught on camera stealing an LPG tank inside a house in Tondo, Manila last Thursday.  The CCTV that recorded the crime was installed earlier by no less than the suspect.

According to Jhomer Apresto’s report on “24 Oras” on Friday, the victim said that they don’t lock their gate as many of them reside at the house. It wasn't until morning that her sister noticed that the LPG tank was missing.

“Parang ayaw niya magpakita sa camera. Pero kilalang-kila namin siya,” said Sheila May Reyes.

(It seems that he’s trying to hide himself from the camera. But we know him.)

“Ang kulit kasi siya rin yung nagkabit nun di ba. Hindi niya man lang tinakpan yung mukha niya…Kapag may nasisira kaming gamit, siya din yung nag-aayos doon,” she added.

(It’s funny because he was also the one who installed it. He did not even try to cover his face from the camera ... .Whenever we have broken items at home, he’s also the one repairing them.)

In the CCTV footage, the suspect can be seen carefully removing the pan at the top of the tank. He placed the pan on the floor and took the tank.

The barangay, on the other hand, confirmed that the suspect is a resident in their area and has been reported several times for theft. He was also reported for pointing a knife at a minor in the nearby barangay, the report added.

“Galing siyang Dinalupihan, may bitbit na naman siyang alak. Siguro nalaman niya kanina na pinapahanap na siya sa amin ng chairman. Nagtago na. Hindi na nagpakita nitong maghapon na ito,” said Edith Avelino, a barangay officer.

(He came from Dinalupihan with a liquor with him. Maybe he found out that the chairman was already looking for him, so he hid. He cannot be found the whole day.)

The suspect is also in the barangay’s drug watch list, according to the report.

The victim will file a formal complaint with the Manila Police District for the arrest of the suspect. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/LDF, GMA Integrated News
