CIDG says it has leads, issued subpoenas in missing couple, business partner case

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said Thursday that it has leads and has issued subpoenas in the case of a missing couple and their business associate who have been missing for the past two months.

In her report on 24 Oras, Marisol Abdurahman said authorities have considered the people the missing couple has transacted with as persons of interest.

Declining to provide details, the CIDG said they are now working on a number of leads.

Married couple Henry Angelo Pantollana, 39 years old, and his wife Margie Pantollana, 38, were last seen with their business partner Richard Cadiz leaving their condominium in Taguig City onboard a sport utility vehicle en route to what was supposed to be a business transaction in Pasig City.

They have not been heard from since then.

Relatives of the couple said the couple had an unspecified amount of money and a watch worth P20 million when they left for the meeting. Henry is a businessman involved in beauty products and the stem cell industry.

It was two weeks later when the victims’ families reported the disappearance of their loved ones. First to the CIDG and later, the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).

PAOCC head Undersecretary Gilbert Cruz said parties could have been interested with the Pantollano’s valuables.

Backtracking by PAOCC spotted the Pantollano’s SUV in Cavite in the evening of July 6. It was followed by a white van.

Days after the disappearance, PAOCC said there was activity in the couple’s bank ATM account, with several withdrawals made amounting to “millions” within a specific time period.

The same discovery was also made by the CIDG in its own probe, finding ATM transactions not just in Metro Manila but also in locations in Region 3.

PAOCC said the people who transacted with the Pantollanos are now considered persons of interest.

Meanwhile, Police Major Helen dela Cruz of the CIDG said they have subpoenaed the owners of certain stalls and stores “to shed light on the particulars of the transactions.”

The Pantollano family has offered a P300,000 reward in exchange for information that could lead to finding the missing individuals. — RF, GMA Integrated News
