TNVS driver abducted, authorities now looking for stolen car
A transport network vehicle service (TNVS) driver escaped after he was abducted by his passengers.
According to Marisol Abdurahman’s exclusive report on “24 Oras” on Tuesday, CCTV footage showed that the victim got out from the second floor of a hotel through a window. He fell on the ground and suffered a fracture on his right hip, the Bulacan Police said.
Several people went near him to lend a hand, but one of those who helped him was also one of his abductors, the report added.
“Nagpanggap po na companion ng victim yung isang suspect,” said Police Colonel Angelo Garcillano of Bulacan Police.
(One of the suspects pretended to be a companion of the victim.)
But the suspect was able to ask for help.
“Nagsabi po siya na siya ay victim ng carnapping and mayroon pong threat. Kasi sabi ng mga suspect na papatayin nila itong biktima,” said Garcillano.
(He said that he’s a victim of carnapping and there’s a threat against him that the suspects will kill him.)
This prompted the hotel staff to seek police assistance, but the suspects were able to escape.
Investigation showed that the suspects booked the TNVS driver on Saturday afternoon at Baliwag, Bulacan.
“Inutusan nila yung driver na gumawi papuntang Marilao, Bulacan….Yung driver ay blindfolded, one of the suspects drove the car going to San Rafael, Bulacan. Doon po sila nag-check in, and yung victim was placed under their custody sa loob ng isang kwarto,” said Garcillano.
(They ordered the driver to go to Marilao, Bulacan…The driver was blindfolded, so one of the suspects drove the car to San Rafael, Bulacan. They checked into a hotel where they placed the victim under their custody inside the room.)
A female suspect surrendered to the police, which led to the arrest of the other suspects in follow-up operations.
One of the suspects said that it’s not carjacking, but it was the “trippings” of the female suspect. He added that they were planning to pawn the car.
Meanwhile, another suspect said they are just in need of money.
But the police are still pursuing the stolen vehicle of the victim.
The arrested suspects will face charges for serious illegal detention and carnapping, the report said. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/LDF, GMA Integrated News
