Mall-wide sales prohibited near FIVB Men's World Championship venues

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) prohibited mall-wide sales in shopping malls near the Smart Araneta Coliseum and SM Mall of Asia Arena during the 2025 FIVB Men's World Championship.

The prohibition will take place at malls near the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City, and the SM Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City, from September 12 to 14; and at the SM Mall of Asia Arena from September 20 to 21 and 27 to 28.

This was done, according to the MMDA, to prevent heavy traffic and manage the influx of mall patrons during weekend matches. 

“Hinihiling ng MMDA ang kooperasyon ng mga piling mall operators para sa matagumpay na pagdaraos ng tournament na iho-host ng bansa tampok ang mga koponan mula sa 32 bansa,” the MMDA said.

(The MMDA is seeking the cooperation of select mall operators for the successful holding of the tournament to be hosted by the country featuring teams from 32 countries.)

The 2025 FIVB Men's World Championship will take place from September 12 to 28. 

The preliminary rounds will have eight groups of four teams each, with the Philippine volleyball team playing in Pool A at the Mall of Asia Arena. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
