3 hurt in Tondo fire
Three people sustained injuries after a fire broke out in a residential area in Happy Land, Barangay 105, in Tondo, Manila, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
The fire was put out on Sunday morning after reaching Task Force Bravo at 10:53 p.m. on Saturday.
Meanwhile, BFP said there were no fatalities.
GMA Integrated News reporter EJ Gomez reported that some residents have returned to their homes to check if they can salvage some of their belongings.
A resident said that compared to the blaze they experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic, the recent fire has caused more damage.
A firefighter said the fire spread rapidly as houses were made of light materials and there were affected junk shops.
Some water lines, pipes, and electrical lines were also damaged by the fire.
About 900 families affected by the fire, according to the Manila LGU. The BFP said the fire left around P1.5 million worth of damage.
Affected residents are seeking aid from the government.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
