No ghost projects in San Juan, all flood control projects accounted for —Zamora

Zamora says no ghost projects to be found in San Juan City

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said that there are no ghost projects to be found in the city, amid the controversies surrounding government infrastructure projects.

In an ambush interview on Tuesday, Zamora said that all the 13 Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) flood control projects in San Juan City since 2022 had been accounted for.

“Lahat po yan ay existing, lahat po yan ay totoong mga proyekto. Wala pong ghost project sa San Juan. I categorically tell everyone na walang ghost project sa San Juan,” he said.

(All of these exist, all of these are real projects. There are no ghost projects in San Juan. I categorically tell everyone that there are no ghost projects in San Juan.)

He added that the same is true for other DPWH projects in the city.

“Lahat po yan ay makikita niyo at madadaanan ninyo… Yan po ay kaya kong ipagmalaki,” he said.

(You can see and pass by all of it… That is what I can be proud of.)

In response to a San Juan River flood control project being named among the flagged DPWH projects in Quezon City, he said that San Juan City only covers two kilometers of the San Juan River, and that he cannot speak for other cities but his own.

“Ang San Juan River kasi, 9.8 kilometers ang haba. Ang bahagi ng San Juan diyan ay 2 kilometers lamang. Tinawag lang yang San Juan River, pero maliit na bahagi lang ang nandito sa San Juan,” he said.

(San Juan River is 9.8 kilometers long. San Juan’s area only covers 2 kilometers. It’s just called the San Juan River, but only a small portion of it is in San Juan.)

“When it comes to other cities, wala akong acess sa impormasyon sa kanilang mga DPWH projects, so I would not like to comment on that. Wala naman po akong information regarding other cities,” he added.
