Sexual assault, acts of lasciviousness complaints filed vs Marcy Teodoro

Sexual assault, acts of lasciviousness complaint filed vs Marcy Teodoro

Two police officers have filed a complaint against Marikina 1st District Representative Marcy Teodoro for alleged acts of lasciviousness and rape by sexual assault, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said Thursday.

According to the DOJ, the complainants were previously assigned as Teodoro’s close-in security at different times.

One of the complainants alleged that during her assignment, the lawmaker committed acts of lasciviousness, which is punishable under Article 336 of the Revised Penal Code.

Meanwhile, the DOJ said the other complainant first served as the close-in security of his spouse and was later reassigned to him. She alleged that he committed rape by sexual assault and acts of lasciviousness.

The DOJ said it withheld the identity of the complainants for their security.

'Malicious, untrue'

In a statement, Teodoro said the accusations against him were malicious and untrue.

''Ang kanilang mga alegasyon ay walang sapat na basehan at  gawa-gawa lamang na ang intensyon ay sirain ang aking reputasyon,'' Teodoro said.

(Their allegations have no basis and their intention is to destroy my reputation.)

''Mukhang politically motivated attack laban sa akin. May mga trumatrabahong pwersa. Mukhang orchestrated ang paglabas ng balita, at ang lumabas na kwento ay hindi kapanipaniwala,'' he added.

(It seems that this is a politically motivated attack against me. Some forces are working against me. It seems that the release of the news was orchestrated, and that the story was unbelievable.)

The former mayor also said a mere allegation could not be used as evidence.

''Ang isang alegasyon ay hindi maituturing na ebidensya,'' he said.

(A mere allegation cannot be considered as evidence.)

The DOJ, meanwhile, said Teodoro will be afforded full due process and remain impartial.

“The complaints will undergo case build-up and legal evaluation to determine sufficiency of evidence before any preliminary investigation. This ensures that any action, if warranted, will rest on a complete and substantiated record,” it said.

“The Department reiterates its commitment to act impartially and to pursue all cases strictly on the basis of evidence and law,” it later added. — with Anna Felicia Bajo/VAL/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
