WALANG PASOK: Manila suspends classes on Friday, Saturday due to Opong
Manila announced that classes in all levels, both public and private, have been suspended for Friday and Saturday (Sept. 26-27, 2025) due to Severe Tropical Storm Opong.
"This is in preparation for the expected impact of Severe Tropical Storm Opong, which weather forecasters warn would bring heavy rainfall, possible flooding, and strong winds in Metro Manila and surrounding provinces," the Manila Public Information Office said in a post on Thursday.
As of 11 a.m. on Thursday, Signal No. 1 has been raised in Metro Manila due to Opong. Ten areas, meanwhile, are under Signal No. 2.
Opong was last spotted 335 km East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, packing maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 135 km/h, and central pressure of 980 hPa.
PAGASA said that the highest Wind Signal that may be hoisted throughout the passage of Opong is Wind Signal No. 4. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
