LRT-1 ops disrupted due to problem with a train


The operations of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) were disrupted on Monday morning after a problem with one of its trains was detected.

The affected train was at the Gil Puyat Station in Makati Ccity, the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), private operator of the LRT-1, said in a post on X.

As a result, the LRT-1 trips from Dr. Santos Station in Parañaque City to Fernando Poe Jr. Station in Quezon City were affected.

"As of 9:30 AM, September 29, 2025 A stop for safety has been put in place from Dr. Santos to Fernando Poe Jr.," the LRMC said.

"The technician is already on board working on the fault of the affected train located at Gil Puyat," it added.

Prior to this, the company said the trains' speed was slowed down to 25 kph at 9:22 a.m. due to the issue with the affected train.

"Advisory: As of 9:22 AM, September 29, 2025,a 25 KPH restriction has been put in place from Fernando Poe Jr. to Dr. Santos. The technician is already on the way to work on the train fault of the affected train. Please allow an additional travel time of about 15 minutes," LRMC said.

The company apologized to commuters as it could not say what time normal operations would resume.

"We apologize, as we cannot provide the exact time. The technician is already working on the train fault of the affected LRV. We will do our best to resolve this immediately. Thank you for your understanding, and ingat po sa biyahe, KasamBiyahe!" it said.

Normal full operations however resumed at 10:37 a.m., the company said in a post on X.

"UPDATE: As of 10:37 AM, September 29, 2025. LRT-1 has resumed full operations from Dr. Santos to Fernando Poe Jr. Station and vice versa. Ingat po sa biyahe, KasamBiyahe!" it said. —KG, GMA Integrated News
