Fire razes warehouse in Valenzuela City

A fire broke out in a warehouse containing plastics inside a residential subdivision in Valenzuela City on Thursday.

According to Marisol Abdurahman’s report in “24 Oras,” a resident living in front of the warehouse immediately called authorities for help.

“Ang kinakakaba kasi namin kung tumawid ‘yung sunog. Pero buti po dumating agad yung mga bumbero,” said Niles Gajudo.

(We were worried that the fire may reach our house. But it was a good thing the firefighters arrived immediately.)

The first alarm was declared at 12:43 pm, but it was later raised to a third alarm.

“Malaki na yung apoy nung nakita…To ensure the source of water, because the nearest hydrant dito ay medyo malayo and mahina yung PSI,” said F/Supt. Ma. Teresa Alquez of the Bureau of Fire Protection.

(The fire was already huge when it was reported…To ensure a source of water, because the nearest hydrant is a bit far and the PSI is also a bit weak.)

The entire warehouse was burned down.

“We are just ensuring na yung loob, dahil puro plastic yung laman, ay hindi na siya magko-cause pa ng mas malaking fire, and we protect the residential area,” said Alquez.

(We are just ensuring that the plastics inside would no longer cause a bigger fire.)

Meanwhile, city officials  are checking if the warehouse had any violations, the report said.

Classes at a nearby school was suspended because of the fumes from the fire.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and the amount of damages to the property.

“Based naman sa information, mayroong kuryente sa loob. But we cannot rule out until our investigators will get inside,” said Alquez.
