8 drug war victims finally laid to rest in Caloocan

The remains of eight victims of the war on drugs during the Duterte administration were laid to rest on Saturday morning in Caloocan City.

The inurnment was held at the Dambana ng Paghilom at the La Loma Catholic Cemetery in Caloocan City.

Relatives of the extrajudicial killings were at the ceremony which was also attended by 2025 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Fr. Flavie Villanueva and Buhay ang People Power Campaign Network co-convenor Kiko Aquino Dee.

The event also marks the end of the Justice for All campaign which called for accountability for extrajudicial killings. The said campaign began on August 17, the 8th death anniversary of Kian delos Santos, a victim of the extrajudicial killings during the Duterte administration.

Government records showed that there were over 6,000 drug suspects killed in police operations during the previous administration's drug war. Human rights organizations, however, said that the death toll may have reached 30,000 due to unreported incidents. —KG, GMA Integrated News
