NBI seizes 13k canisters of fake insecticide spray worth P1.9 million

Over 13,000 canisters of fake insecticide spray worth P1.9 million were seized from a store in Valenzuela City and a warehouse in Tondo, Manila on Monday, the National Bureau of Investigation said.

According to a report by Christian Maño on Super Radyo dzBB, the NBI carried out the operation upon receiving a report from the real owner of the unnamed insecticide brand about fake versions of their product.

NBI operatives then conducted surveillance and a test-buy at a store in Valenzuela City and a warehouse in Tondo.

The law enforcers then secured a search warrant from the Manila Regional Trial Court and implemented the search warrant at the two establishments, leading to the seizure of the fake insecticide spray.

The owners of the establishments will face charges of trademark infringement under Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
