Heavy rains caused flooding in some areas in Metro Manila on Friday, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Heavy rains caused flooding in some areas in Metro Manila on Friday, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

In an advisory, the MMDA said floodings were reported over the following areas as of 12:55 p.m.:

Quezon City

  •  EDSA ORTIGAS after flyover NB : Gutter deep ( 8 inches ). Passable to all types of Vehicles
  •  EDSA Aurora Tunnel NB : Half Gutter deep ( 4 inches ). Passable to all types of Vehicles

Mandaluyong

  • EDSA Highway 54 SB : Gutter deep ( 8 inches ). Passable to all types of Vehicles
  • EDSA POEA Ortigas service road SB : Gutter deep ( 8 inches ). Passable to all types of Vehicles
  • EDSA Shaw Tunnel NB : Half knee ( 10 inches ).Passable to all types of Vehicles

Pasig City

  • C5 Ortigas Service road SB: Gutter deep ( 8 inches ).Passable to all types of Vehicles (subsided as of 12:49 p.m.)
  • C5 Eagle St. NB

State weather bureau PAGASA earlier said the trough of a low pressure area (LPA) is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, and the rest of MIMAROPA.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, meanwhile, is seen to prevail over Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan due to southwesterly windflow.

The localized thunderstorms may cast partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the rest of Luzon. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
