55 minors involved in Sept. 21 rally undergo community service

A total of 55 minors who were allegedly involved in a disturbance in Manila during the September 21 rally underwent community service together with their parents, the Manila city government said Friday.

The activity is being conducted in different areas of the city under the supervision of the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW).

The minors were among those arrested by the Manila Police District.after a commotion broke out in Mendiola.

According to the MDSW, the initiative aims to help the minors take responsibility for their actions and understand the importance of discipline, respect, and social responsibility.

“Layunin ng programang ito na maituwid ang kanilang pagkakamali at ipaalala na walang mabuting ibubunga ang kaguluhan at paninira sa publiko,” the city government said in a statement.

(The goal of this program is to help them correct their mistakes and remind them that chaos and destruction bring no good.)

The community service includes cleanup drives and public maintenance activities, where both the minors and their parents participate.

The Manila City Government emphasized that the initiative is not only a corrective measure but also a reminder that discipline and compassion for the community begin with each individual.—Sherylin Untalan/AOL, GMA Integrated News
