Two men nabbed for selling illegal firearm in Pasig; fake IDs seized
Two men were arrested for allegedly selling illegal firearms during an undercover operation in Pasig City.
According to John Consulta’s exclusive report in “24 Oras” on Monday, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group- National Capital Region nabbed the suspects for selling a .45 caliber handgun with ammunition and silencers. The police also seized a 9mm pistol and ammunition from one of the suspects.
“Inaalok tayo ng baril, ito yung SIG Sauer na caliber .45 at P55,000. So nung chineck natin itong subject natin, at the same time yung baril is hindi siya registered sa firearms natin. Kaya nagkasa tayo ng buy bust [operation],” said CIDG-NCR chief Police Colonel John Guiagui.
(He offered to sell a SIG Sauer .45 caliber gun for 55,000 pesos. When we checked our subject and his firearm that was not registered, we conducted a buy bust.)
The CIDG also recovered fake IDs and calling cards that were made to appear as if they were issued by Malacanang Palace, Interpol, and a media company. Authorities are already investigating if these were used for scamming activities.
The suspects have yet to give their statements on the matter. But they are facing charges for illegal possession of firearms and usurpation of authority.
The CIDG is also encouraging possible victims of the suspects to report to the authorities. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
