NAPOLCOM files raps vs 12 Manila cops over delivery riders' alleged illegal arrest

NAPOLCOM files charges vs 12 Manila cops for delivery riders' alleged illegal arrest

Twelve Manila police officers are now facing administrative charges over the alleged illegal arrest of two delivery riders, according to the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) on Tuesday.

NAPOLCOM’s Inspection Monitoring and Investigation Service (IMES) filed the administrative charges against the cops before the Commission’s Legal Affairs Service after finding “probable cause.”

“From this case, 12 pong police officers ang aming sinampahan ng kasong administratibo for four counts of grave misconduct, isang grave dishonesty, at conduct unbecoming of a police officer,” IMES Staff Service Director Edman Pares said at a press conference before the filing.

Two delivery riders on September 12 and 18 separately went to NAPOLCOM to file a complaint-affidavit against the Manila cops.

According to the complainants, the cops supposedly framed them as illegal drug violators last September 9. They also claimed that the cops took their money and personal belongings.

The involved cops were relieved from their post at the Manila Police District's Drug Enforcement Unit.

NAPOLCOM vice chairperson and executive officer Ralph Calinisan earlier said that there were inconsistencies in the police report, CCTV footage, and accounts of the complainants.

He noted that most of the implicated cops were also involved in another questionable operation. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
