QC evacuates over 1,100 residents amid Super Typhoon Uwan
Over 1,149 individuals have been evacuated in Quezon City as Super Typhoon Uwan brings intense winds and heavy rain to several areas of the country on Sunday.
The total number of individuals is equivalent to about 284 families in six barangays, based on the Quezon City local government unit's (LGU) 10 a.m. evacuation update.
The evacuees are taking shelter in eight evacuation centers.
For emergencies, residents may dial the Quezon City helpline at 122.
The LGUs in the National Capital Region are on high alert as the impact of Uwan is expected to hit the region over the weekend.
Meanwhile, response teams and rescue equipment are on standby for possible deployment to emergencies.
Earlier today, Malacañang announced the suspension of government work in nine regions on November 10 and classes in 12 regions on November 10 to 11 in light of the impacts of the storm.
Based on PAGASA’s 11 a.m. cyclone bulletin, Metro Manila is still under Signal No. 3.
Uwan was last monitored over the coastal waters of Pandan, Catanduanes, carrying maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 230 km/h, and is moving west northwestward at 30 km/h. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
