Schools, churches urged: shelter homeless from Uwan onslaught

The Archdiocese of Manila on Sunday called on schools, churches, and institutions to provide shelter for persons in street-dwelling situations (PSDS) as Super Typhoon Uwan batters Metro Manila and other areas in the country.

“The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila’s MWP (Ministry with PSDS) is encouraging all schools, churches, and institutions with safe spaces—roof, restrooms, and clean water—to accommodate PSDS,” the Manila archdiocese said in a social media post.

“Our dear brothers and sisters on the streets are in dire need of your help as Super Typhoon Uwan approaches,” it added.

Those who can open their doors to evacuees may contact the ministry at 0960 210 3666, 0960 309 5965, or 0917 623 6172, or send an email to PSDS@rcam.org.

They may also message the ministry via its official website.

Based on PAGASA’s 2 p.m. cyclone bulletin, Metro Manila remains under Signal No. 3.
