QC records 2,606 influenza-like illness cases
A total of 2,606 cases of influenza-like illnesses (ILI) have been recorded in Quezon City, according to the city’s health department.
As of November 7, 2025, the figure is 87% higher than the same period last year, when 1,394 cases were recorded, according to Super Radyo dzBB's Allan Gatus reported on Tuesday.
Most influenza-like illness cases in Quezon City involve children aged 14 and below, with 1,637 cases.
Records also showed that Barangays Batasan Hill and Commonwealth have the highest number of ILI cases.
According to the Department of Education (DepEd) in Quezon City, one reason for the rise in ILI cases in schools is crowded classrooms.
DepEd reminded parents and guardians anew to keep children with ILI symptoms at home to avoid the spread of the contagious illness.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), ILIs are contagious illnesses caused by several different viruses or bacteria that cause infections in the nose, throat, or lungs.
Its symptoms include fever, coughs spanning at least 10 days, swollen throat, runny nose, and headache. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BAP, GMA Integrated News
