Forty-five thousand individuals attended the first day of the three-day protest organized by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) at Quirino Grandstand in Manila by midday on Sunday, the Manila Police District said.

The said crowd estimate was recorded as of 1 p.m. of Sunday, with more people expected to arrive as the program is expected to start later in the afternoon.

The famed Luneta Park, where the venue of the protest is located, was filled with thousands of INC members wearing white shirts with the statement, “Transparency for a Better Democracy.”

All the way from T.M. Kalaw Avenue up to the grandstand, the sidewalks were also filled with tents. Street vendors also took advantage of the event to sell food, picnic mats, umbrellas, among others.
