PNP still on full alert until November 30 rally

Full alert status will be maintained amid the continuous protests against corruption up to November 30, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday.

At a press conference, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño was asked about the preparations of authorities for the November 30 rally.

“Kung mapapansin po ninyo, kami po ay nananatiling full alert status pa rin…Sa ngayon, nilalatag na po ng director for operations yun pong magiging deployment natin kaugnay po sa darating na November 30 rally,” he said.

(If you notice, we are still on full alert status...Right now, the director for operations is laying out our deployment in relation to the upcoming November 30 rally.)

According to him, the Manila Police District (MPD) maintained its deployment of personnel at Mendiola Peace Arch near Malacañang Palace in Manila in light of the continuous protests.

PNP chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said they will implement maximum tolerance to peaceful gathering but zero tolerance for violence. According to him, the PNP is ready.

“We are ready for the Trillion Peso March. Our approach is clear—maximum tolerance for those peacefully exercising their rights, and zero tolerance for any form of violence or unlawful activity,” Nartatez said in a statement.

“We urge all participants to follow instructions from our personnel, respect fellow participants, and help us maintain a safe and orderly environment,” he added.

Motorists and nearby communities are advised to expect heavier traffic, plan alternative routes, check advisories for security checkpoints and traffic adjustments to avoid inconvenience.

To ensure swift response to any emergencies, the PNP prepares pre-deployment of personnel, medical assistance teams, and coordination with local government units

Protesters are advised to avoid bringing prohibited items and prioritize their safety during the gathering.

“Our goal is zero violence, zero untoward incidents, and a safe environment for everyone,” Nartatez said. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
