Bikers slam corruption in 'Padyak Kontra Kurakot'

A group of bikers made a stand against corruption during their "Padyak Kontra Kurakot" bike run in Quezon City on Saturday, November 22, which is also National Bike Day.

The bikers gathered at Quezon City Hall on Saturday morning to start their 25-km bike run toward Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila, according to GMA Integrated News reporter Bea Pinlac.

“Wala nang hindi biktima ng corruption na ito — mapa-pedestrian, commuter, biker, runner. Lahat naman tayo taxpayer, so everyone wants their voices to be heard na talaga,” Jasper Abunyawan, one of the event organizers, said.

(Everyone has been victimized by this corruption — whether pedestrian, commuter, biker, runner. We are all taxpayers, so everyone wants their voices to really be heard.)

On Sunday, November 30, various groups will hold rallies against corruption at Luneta and EDSA People Power Monument, among others.

The massive protests scheduled that day are aimed at prodding the government to initiate more action and reforms in protecting public funds amid the investigation of the flood control scandal, the Kilusang Bayan Kontra Kurakot (KBKK) said on Wednesday.

Cebu Archbishop Alberto "Abet" Uy meanwhile on Saturday urged Cebuanos to take part in a "prayerful and peaceful assembly" on November 30 to call out corruption and demand good governance. —KG, GMA Integrated News
