The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will be on full alert starting November 28 for the Trillion Peso March protest on November 30, spokesperson Police Major Hazel Asilo said Sunday.

In an interview with Super Radyo dzBB, Asilo said the NCRPO is currently on heightened alert following the 2-day protest action organized by the Iglesia ni Cristo, wherein security planning and coordination with concerned agencies have been activated.

“Ang full alert ay para sa aming mga uniformed personnel para ma-account ang ating mga personnel para sakaling kailanganin ng karagdagang deployment,” Asilo explained.

(The full alert is for our uniformed personnel so we can account for them in case additional deployment is needed.)

She added that metro cops will be deployed in teams assigned to civil disturbance management, negotiation, monitoring, and arrest.

The NCRPO will also conduct live monitoring using CCTVs to test prompt response  in case there is a sudden surge of people.

Asilo said that they received the permit for the protest at the EDSA People Power Monument, which will be held until up to 8 p.m.

Meanwhile, Mendiola Street in Manila near Malacanang Palace is off limits to protest actions and any form of assembly, according to Asilo.

“Ang Mendiola po ay hindi para sa mga pagra-rally at pagtitipon. Mayroon namang ibang lugar na pwedeng humingi ng permit. Mayroon tayong mga freedom park,” Asilo said.

(Mendiola is not a place for rallies or mass gatherings. There are other places where people can request permits. We have designated freedom parks.)

The Trillion People Mobilization Kilusang Bayan Kontra Kurakot said the massive protest on November 30 at the Luneta in Manila, EDSA in Quezon City, and other venues aims to push the government to initiate more action and reforms in protecting public funds amid the investigation of alleged corruption in relation to the flood control projects. — RF, GMA Integrated News
