PNP: P68-M suspected shabu seized in fatal QC shootout actually noodles, pebbles
The alleged P68 million worth of shabu seized during the fatal buy-bust operation in Quezon City on November 18 turned out to be just noodles and pebbles, according to the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) on Monday.
“It turned out negative po. Negative po yung naging result,” PDEG acting director Police Brigadier General Elmer Ragay said in a press briefing
(It turned out negative. The result was negative.)
“Mga nabalot na what would look like noodles. Meron din pong laman ay pebbles. So the intention was talagang onsehin ang kanilang katranskasyon,” he added.
(What would look like noodles were wrapped. There were also pebbles inside. So the suspects’ intention was to really cheat whoever they were transacting with.)
Authorities initially reported that 10 kilograms of suspected shabu worth around P68 million were confiscated in the operation.
According to PDEG, the four drug suspects tried to swindle the undercover cops who were purchasing suspected shabu from them during the buy-bust operation.
Three of the four suspects were killed in the ensuing shootout including their possible leader, Alias Dan. The other suspect escaped and is still at large.
Authorities are looking into the identity of one of the deceased suspects as he bears a resemblance to a person involved in another crime group.
Two persons, a member of the PDEG and an informant, were hurt in the exchange of gunfire. —RF, GMA Integrated News
