After 16 years on the run, man nabbed for raping minor-aged niece
After hiding from the law for 16 years, a man was arrested in Valenzuela City for allegedly raping his niece when she was just nine years old.
According to Emil Sumangil’s exclusive report in “24 Oras” on Monday, the suspect is facing rape charges in Legazpi City, Albay.
Police investigation showed that the suspect allegedly committed the crime when he was also a minor.
“Ni-rape niya ang kaniyang pamangkin who is nine years old during that time at yung suspect natin is 14 years old. He went into hiding dito sa NCR for 16 years,” said CIDG Northern District Field Unit chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Benedick Poblete.

Police also suspect that the man also allegedly raped his nephew.
“We have received an unverified information that he has a pending case of another rape. However, iba ito (this is different), because it is a rape that involves another male human being,” said Poblete.
The suspect told GMA Integrated News that he can no longer recall what happened. He will be brought back to Albay where his case is filed before the court.
“Hindi ko na maalala, sir. Hingi ako ng tawad,” he said.
(I cannot recall anymore, sir. I am asking for forgiveness.)
Police advised parents to keep a careful eye on their children.
“Kung titingnan niyo, hindi lang babae ang ginagahasa. Ibang-iba na ang panahon natin, pati po mga lalaki ay ginagahasa,” said Poblete.
