Manila Archbishop says continue special prayer for 'Integrity, Truth, and Justice' until Jan. 1
Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula has directed religious congregations and lay faithful to continue to recite the "Oratio Imperata for Integrity, Truth, and Justice" during mass until January 1, 2026.
The special prayer has been recited in various worship venues such as parishes and shrines since October 4, 2025 as a "prophetic cry of indignation and outrage against the evil of corruption, as well as a resounding call to contrition and conversion."
In the latest circular signed by Chancellor Fr. Carmelo P. Arada, Jr., the prayer shall continue to be recited in shrines, parishes, oratories, and chapels within the Archdiocese of Manila until 1 January 2026.
However, there is a specific instruction on which part of the mass the prayer will be added. In previous weeks, some parishes opted to recite the prayer or a variation of it to replace the "Prayer of the Faithful" or the part of the mass in which the community cites specific intentions for the community, clergy, and souls in purgatory.
"Beginning Sunday, 7 December 2025, the Oratio Imperata will be prayed before the Mass or after the Post-Communion Prayer. We will revert to the Prayer of the Faithful, which draws inspiration from the Scriptural readings and the liturgical season, after the Homily or the Creed," Arada said.
"Impelled by faith and love for country, we continue to be united in prayer and action, so that truth, integrity, and justice may prevail over dishonesty, corruption, and self interest," he added.
Arada concluded the circular saying, "We entrust our nation to the maternal embrace of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Advent, that she may lead us to her Son, the Light of the World. Thank you very much. Let us unite ourselves in prayer." — BAP, GMA Integrated News
