Rider shot dead in Taguig ambush; 2 friends nabbed

A motorcycle rider was shot dead by two armed men in an apparent ambush in Barangay Bambang, Taguig City over the weekend.

According to Bam Alegre’s Monday report on ”24 Oras,” CCTV footage showed the victim being surprised by the two suspects along a narrow alley past 9 p.m. on Sunday.

The victim fell to the ground after being shot. One of the suspects shot him again as he lay on his back.

Meanwhile, the other gunman attempted to take the victim’s motorcycle but ran away after the victim pulled out a gun.

Residents helped the rider and rushed him to a hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.

Authorities later arrested two men who said they were the victim’s friends. Both men came to his side after the incident, with the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team discovering that the victim's missing bag and firearm were in their possession.

The duo said they planned to return the missing items to barangay officials but authorities arrested them before they could turn these over.

Authorities said the two men may face charges of obstruction of justice.

They are still investigating the motive behind the shooting and the identity of the gunmen. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
