PNP tags fiancé of missing bride-to-be as 'person of interest'
The fiancé of the missing bride-to-be in Quezon City has been tagged as a person of interest, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In a message to GMA News Online on Wednesday, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Spokesperson Police Major Jennifer Gannaban confirmed that Mark Arjay Reyes has been listed as a person of interest in the disappearance of his fiancée, Sherra de Juan.
However, Gannaban clarified that Reyes being considered a POI varies from him being a suspect.
“[Person of Interest] po siya pero not necessarily na suspect na. Si Mark kasi ang last na kasama, at fiancée kaya naituring na POI,” she said.
(He is a [Person of Interest] but not necessarily a suspect. Mark was the last person she was with, and as her fiancée, he was tagged as a POI.)
In police parlance, a POI is someone being looked at for information, but is not necessarily being implicated in the crime. A suspect, on the other hand, is under suspicion of committing the crime, which often leads to the filing of charges.
Gannaban assured that investigations are ongoing to locate the missing woman.
“Tuloy-tuloy po ang investigation pa din hanggang sa makakuha po ng lead kung ano talaga ang nangyari kay Ms. Sheera,” she added.
(The investigation will continue until authorities obtain a lead on what exactly happened to Ms. Sheera.)
De Juan has been missing since Wednesday, when she informed Reyes that she was going out to buy shoes for their upcoming wedding. They were scheduled to be married on December 14.
Earlier, the QCPD said still sees no indications of foul play in de Juan’s disappearance.
