Over 200 cops to be deployed for 2025 MMFF Parade — SPD
The South Police District (SPD) will deploy 244 lawmen to maintain security for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 51st Edition Grand Parade of Stars in Makati City on Friday.
The deployed police officers will come from SPD headquarters' special unit, the Pasay City Police Station (CPS), and Makati CPS.
In a statement on Thursday, the SPD said 185 personnel have been assigned for route and area security, including 31 from Pasay CPS, and 45 from Makati CPS for area security.
It added that four personnel from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal K-9 unit and five covert security personnel will support operations, while 100 personnel from the District Force Mobile Battalion will handle route security.
The SPD also said Tactical Motorcycle Reaction Units, Special Weapons And Tactics teams, and other mobile security elements will ensure full coverage along the 8.43-kilometer parade route.
No verified threats against the parade have so far been reported, but the SPD heightened its anti-crime operations in crowded areas of Pasay and Makati for any theft incidents and street crimes.
The SPD said its Security Task Group has been activated to enhance command, control, and supervision.
"Pre-event preparations include route inspections, deployment briefings, simulation exercises, and communication checks," SPD said.
"Special attention will be given to crowd control, traffic management, emergency response, and crime prevention," it added.
The SPD also urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement personnel, adhere to security protocols, and report any suspicious activity during the event.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) earlier announced that it will implement temporary lane closure and a stop-and-go scheme in managing the traffic for the MMFF parade. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
