MMDA: Provincial buses allowed on EDSA 10 pm to 5 am starting Dec. 20; 24/7 by Dec. 24, 2025

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will temporarily allow provincial buses to use EDSA to accommodate the expected surge of passengers going to the provinces amid the Christmas season.

In an advisory, the MMDA said provincial buses will be allowed to pass EDSA starting December 20 but only during off-peak hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

From December 24 to January 2, 2026, the MMDA said provincial buses will be allowed to traverse EDSA on a 24-hour basis to ease congestion at terminals and ensure smoother travel for holiday commuters.

The MMDA said the move is part of its traffic mitigating measures for the Christmas season to ensure faster turnaround time and uninterrupted trips for provincial buses and their passengers.

Provincial buses from North Luzon may stop at terminals in Cubao, Quezon City.

Meanwhile, provincial buses from South Luzon are only allowed to drop off passengers up to Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) and in Pasay.  — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
