MMDA advises public to recycle parcel packaging

MMDA advises public to recycle parcel packaging

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority advised the public to go green this Christmas by recycling packages of parcels.

The agency said that cartons, plastics, and bubble wraps of parcels ordered online can be recycled.

“Ang tamang pagre-recycle at pagre-reuse ng mga packaging materials ay isang mahalagang hakbang tungo sa isang mas sustainable na kinabukasan,” the MMDA said in a statement.

(The proper recycling and reuse of packaging materials is an important step toward a more sustainable future.)

Before recycling, the MMDA said the public should make sure that cartons are dry and clean, and remove everything attached to them.

“Mahalagang tiyakin na ang karton ay malinis at tuyo. Alisin ang anumang tape, label, o plastic na nakakabit dito bago i-recycle,” it said.

(It is important to ensure that the cardboard is clean and dry. Remove any tape, labels, or plastic attached to it before recycling.)

One can also save bubble wraps for future packing needs, the MMDA said.

“Maaari ring gamitin ang bubble wrap para sa pagpapadala, pag-iimpake, o bilang insulation sa hardin.”

(Bubble wrap can also be used for shipping, packing, or as garden insulation.)

The MMDA recovered last July more than 600 tons of garbage from pumping stations and flooded areas in the capital region following the onslaught of a tropical cyclone and the impact of the southwest monsoon. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/AOL, GMA Integrated News
