Road crash along SLEX kills 3 members of a family, wounds 3 others
Three members of a family died while three others were hurt after a truck crashed into a sedan along the northbound lane of the Alabang-Muntinlupa portion of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) on early Tuesday morning.
According to Marisol Abdurahman’s report in “24 Oras” on Tuesday, three passengers aboard the car were killed while their three companions, including a five-year-old, sustained injuries.
The truck driver is now under the custody of the Philippine National Police’s Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG).
GMA Integrated News is trying to reach out to the truck driver for comment.
“Nag-menor itong sedan at hindi na rin po nakapag-preno o nakapag-menor itong truck na ito,” said PNP-HPG spokesperson Lt. Nadame Malang.
(The sedan slowed down, but the truck was unable to brake or slow down as well.)
Police said they are looking into the possibility that the truck was driving fast, which caused the accident.
“Isa din ‘yan sa tinitignan din po na anggulo ng atin pong mga imbestigador. Gayong ‘yung impact talaga nitong truck sa mismo pong sedan, sobrang lala,” Malang added.
(That is also one of the angles our investigators are looking into. Especially since the actual impact of the truck on the sedan was so severe.)
The victims’ family is in talks with the owner of the truck for a possible settlement, the report said. However, the PNP-HPG said the truck driver should be held accountable.
The PNP-HPG said the driver may face charges for reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide and damage to property. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/JMA, GMA Integrated News
