LTO suspends driver’s license of motorist in viral alleged hit-and-run

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has ordered a 90-day preventive suspension of the driver’s license of a motorist who allegedly engaged in a hit-and-run incident.

A video that has gone viral shows the sedan striking a motorcycle, causing the rider and their passenger to fall off.

The sedan continued on its way.

The LTO ordered the car's owner and the driver involved in the incident to report to the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division in East Avenue, Quezon City, on January 6, 2026.

The agency also ordered them to submit a sworn explanation as to why they should not be held liable for reckless driving and why their license should not be revoked or suspended.

The driver was also instructed to surrender his driver’s license on the date of the scheduled hearing.

The vehicle has been placed under alarm while the investigation is ongoing.

The LTO said failure to appear and submit the required explanation will be considered a waiver of the right to be heard, and the case will be decided based on the evidence on record. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
