Senior citizen in critical condition after motorcycle hit-and-run incident in Muntinlupa

A senior citizen in Barangay Cupang, Muntinlupa City is now in critical condition after he was hit by a motorcycle, whose rider escaped instead of helping the victim.

According to Chino Gaston’s report on “24 Oras” on Wednesday, the 66-year-old victim was crossing a road on the evening of December 21 when he stopped upon seeing the oncoming red motorcycle.

The motorcycle still hit him and sent him flying a few paces before landing on the street. The victim’s head hit the concrete, rendering him unconscious.

The motorcycle rider lost his balance as a result of the impact, but got up and sped off instead of helping the victim.

Three men attempted to block the motorcycle’s path but failed, while the victim was brought to a hospital after a few minutes.

Police investigation showed that the motorcycle rider had just come from a motorcycle workshop when he hit the victim.

Police have a lead on the suspect’s identity and address based on CCTV footage. However, authorities are waiting for a formal complaint from the victim’s familiy.

Barangay officials reminded motorists who find themselves in road accidents to bring the victims to the hospital or call an ambulance for immediate medical attention. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/JMA, GMA Integrated News
