8 families in Taguig lose homes to fire on Christmas Day

At least eight families lost their homes on Christmas Day after a fire broke out in Barangay Post Proper Southside, Taguig City.

According to Bam Alegre’s report in “Saksi” on Thursday, at least four fire trucks responded to the blaze, which reached the first alarm.

The fire was placed under control after an hour and was declared fire out minutes later.

Fire investigators are looking at the possibility that the fire may have been caused by a spark from an electric wire, although the probe is still ongoing.

The affected families were evacuated by barangay authorities following the blaze.

Meanwhile, another fire hit in a residential area in Barangay Santa Monica in Novaliches, Quezon City also on Thursday.

There was no one at the house where the fire began. The blaze quickly spread to the adjacent home.

In Sitio Isla Verde, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City, three houses and a thrift or ukay-ukay store were razed on Christmas Eve, in which two members of a family sustained first-degree burns.

The fire was also caused by a spark from an electric wire.

According to the sibling of the thrift store owner, more than P100,000 in cash was burned that was supposed to be for the bonuses of their workers and salary for the end of the year.

The fire was put out after 30 minutes. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/JMA, GMA Integrated News
