QC's firework-related injuries climbs to 5

The Quezon City Local Government reminded residents that the use of firecrackers is strictly prohibited in private areas as the local firework-related injury count climbs to 5.

According to a dzBB report by Christian Maño on Saturday, three victims were added to the tally of firework-related injuries on Friday.

The victims were from Barangays Holy Spirit, Kaligayan and San Bartolome.

The current tally was 62% lower than the city’s previous record within the same period in 2024.

The local government reminded the public that using firecrackers is strictly prohibited in private residences or buildings in the city, and only individuals with valid permits and clearance from the Department of Public Order and Safety at the Bureau of Fire Protection are allowed to use firecrackers in public settings.

The manufacturing of firecrackers is also strictly prohibited in the city under City Ordinance No. 3233, while only stores with special permits are allowed to sell fireworks.

They also reminded them that minors were not allowed to use firecrackers in any way and that fireworks must undergo proper disposal.

Violators of the ordinance may face a fine of P1,000 to P5,000 or jail time of 3 months to 1 year. —Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
