PNP probes security firm in QC car dealership shooting
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has launched an investigation into a private security firm and its personnel following the fatal shooting of two security guards inside a car dealership along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City on Wednesday.
In a statement, the PNP said the security firm and its personnel may face administrative charges under the Private Security Services Industry Act and its implementing rules.
The PNP added that the firm could face suspension or revocation of its license to operate if it is found to be grossly negligent.
Police arrested the suspect on Thursday. He was identified as a fellow security guard of the victims.
According to the PNP’s Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA), the suspect has no record of a License to Exercise Security Profession (LESP).
Meanwhile, one of the victims had a valid LESP, while the other had an expired license at the time of the incident.
The private security firm involved, on the other hand, currently holds a valid license to operate.
To prevent similar incidents, SOSIA has issued the following memorandum advisories to all private security service providers nationwide:
- Memorandum Advisory No. 064-2025 — Reinforcing the Security Professional’s Creed, ethical standards, and code of conduct to deter workplace bullying; and
- Memorandum Advisory No. 065-2025 — Reiterating the strict prohibition against the deployment of unlicensed private security personnel, with a warning of penalties under Republic Act No. 11917
