QCPD: No evidence of crime yet in QC bride-to-be disappearance
The Quezon City Police District on Tuesday said there is still no indication that a crime was committed in the disappearance of a bride-to-be who was recently found in Pangasinan.
QCPD spokesperson Police Major Jennifer Gannaban said initial assessment showed no signs of physical harm or forced detention involving Sherra de Juan.
(Right now, because we haven't received any other evidence that a crime actually occurred, we can't say yet.)
(But once we confirm whether or not her disappearance was forced, that's when we will conclude or release an update.)
Gannaban noted that De Juan was found physically fit after undergoing a medical examination upon her return. While she appeared weak, authorities attributed this to her limited food intake.
“Yun nga lang, medyo matagal lang daw na puro tubig 'yung kanyang intake kaya parang nagkaroon po siya ng acid peptic disease,” she said.
(She only had water intake for a while, so it seems like she developed acid peptic disease.)
Investigators are now looking into the possibility that De Juan may have left on her own as the probe revealed financial concerns that may have influenced her actions.
While De Juan’s fiancé Mark Arjay Reyes was previously considered a person of interest, Gannaban stressed that he is not considered a suspect.
(We also mentioned that he was a person of interest because he was the one who provided us with important information that helped in our investigation.)
(Right now, there is no evidence that shows that he was the one who did it, so we cannot consider him a suspect.)
Police said De Juan is currently resting and will be interviewed once she is ready.
De Juan was reported missing on December 10 after she went out to buy shoes at a mall in Quezon City. She was found December 29 in Sison, Pangasinan. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
