Muntinlupa LGU runs after modified mufflers on motorcycles

Ahead of the New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Muntinlupa Traffic Management Bureau has launched an operation against motorcycles that use modified mufflers to make noise to welcome the incoming year.

According to Super Radyo dzBB’s Christian Maño on Tuesday, some motorcycle owners use modified mufflers to create loud noise during the revelry.

The Muntinlupa City local government unit (LGU) reminded the public that using modified mufflers is prohibited under the Metro Manila Traffic Code of 2023.

In addition, City Ordinance 2023-055 also penalizes the use of such mufflers with a P2,000 fine.

Authorities also confiscate modified mufflers from motorcycle owners, who also have to pay the fine for violating the ordinance. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/JMA, GMA Integrated News
