Quiapo Church holds Jesus Nazareno thanksgiving procession

The Quiapo Church on Tuesday night held its thanksgiving procession for the image of the Jesus Nazareno, ahead of the yearly January 9 Traslacion.

The truck bearing the float and the miraculous image of the Black Nazarene left the Quiapo Church at 11:32 p.m.

Devotees welcomed the image as it exited the church’s doors in a a solemn thanksgiving procession that is expected to slowly cover a 4.56 km route around Manila.

The thanksgiving procession was livestreamed on the Facebook page of the Quiapo Church.

The image of the Jesus Nazareno was returned to the Quiapo Church by 1:10 a.m. Wednesday.

Unlike the Traslacion, the thanksgiving procession is shorter and does not involve the use of ropes to pull the carriage since the image is mounted on a truck. The image is closely guarded by members of the Hijos del Nazareno.

The procession is part of the Quiapo Church’s preparations for the Traslacion on Jan. 9, 2026. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
