The Quiapo Church on Sunday released an advisory for devotees who plan to attend the first Sunday Mass, days before the annual Traslacion on January 9, 2026.

For those coming from Plaza Lacson to Carlos Palanca Street, pass through Villalobos St. and exit Plaza Miranda and the Quiapo Church.

For devotees coming from the west or the north of the church, traverse Rizal Avenue to Carriedo St. until you reach Plaza San Juan Bautista.

To those coming from the north or España Boulevard, pass through from Quezon Blvd. to Quinta Market until you reach Villalobos St., then Plaza Miranda and the church.

Devotees may stay outside the church along Quezon Blvd.

Here are the following exit points around Carriedo and San Juan Bautista that lead to Recto Ave. and Rizal Ave.:

  • Evangelista St.
  • Palma St.
  • Plateria St.
  • Padre Gomez St.
  • Sales St.
  • Estero Cegado

On Saturday, devotees flocked to Quiapo for the annual blessing of the standards and replicas of the image of Jesus Nazarene.

Quiapo Church earlier presented its plans for the 2026 celebration of the Jesus Nazareno image, including the traditional Traslacion.

Celebrated every January 9, the Traslacion commemorates the transfer of the image of Jesus Nazareno from the San Nicolas de Tolentino Church in Intramuros to Quiapo Church in the 1700s.

Over eight million Jesus Nazareno devotees participated in the 2025 Traslacion, one of the longest processions in recent memory, which lasted for 20 hours, 45 minutes, and four seconds. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
