MMDA wants to be involved in planning flood control, infra projects in NCR
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is seeking to be involved in the planning of flood control and other infrastructure projects in the National Capital Region, MMDA chairman Romando Artes said Monday.
In a press briefing, Artes said they are talking with Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon regarding a possible cooperation.
“Dahil alam ninyo naman ang DPWH ang gumagawa ng mga infrastructure projects insofar as flood control is concerned. Tine-turn over na lang 'yan sa atin kapag nagawa na,” the chairman said.
(Because as you know, the DPWH handles the infrastructure projects insofar as flood control is concerned. They are just turned over to us once they are completed.)
“Pero this time, base sa aming discussions ni Gen. Torre, gusto namin sana this time, sa simula pa ma-involve na kami sa planning, sa execution, and implementation,” he added.
(But this time, based on our discussions with Gen. Torre, we would like to be involved from the very beginning in the planning, execution, and implementation.)
Last week, Torre took his oath as general manager of the MMDA, replacing Procopio Lipana.

According to Artes, Torre will prioritize traffic management and flood control management.
“Mamaya magrereport si Gen. Torre na nag-inspect na sila ng EDSA rehab. He made sure na lahat ng napagkasunduan insofar as EDSA rehab, particularly ‘yung pag clear ng lugar, ay nasusunod,” he said.
(Later, Gen. Torre will report that they have already inspected the EDSA rehab. He made sure that everything agreed upon insofar as the EDSA rehab is concerned, particularly the clearing of the area, is being followed.)
Torre previously served as chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), but he was relieved in August. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
