Persons linked to deadly Tondo firecracker blast now tagged as suspects
The five persons of interest in the firecracker explosion in Tondo, Manila that killed a 12-year-old boy are now tagged as suspects.
This was after they failed to appear before the Manila Police District (MPD), according to a report in “24 Oras” on Monday.
The MPD will file charges against the suspects through regular filing. They will face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and serious physical injuries, and for the use of illegal firecrackers.
The MPD is still awaiting the results of the examination conducted by its forensic unit, the report added.
On the other hand, post-blast investigation on the separate explosion in Narra Street in Tondo last January 1 showed that the firecracker involved was an “atomic bomb,” an illegal firecracker.
Authorities, however, are still finding out the intention for leaving behind the firecracker.
Police are searching for CCTV footage and witnesses who could help identify those responsible. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BAP, GMA Integrated News
