SC suspends work in Manila courts on Jan. 9 for Traslacion 2026
The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday announced that work in all first and second level courts in Manila are suspended on January 9, Friday for the Feast of the Jesus Nazareno.
According to the SC, executive judges must ensure that there is sufficient court personnel to act on urgent requests for bail, orders of release of persons deprived of liberty, as well as applications for the issuance of writs of habeas corpus, among others.
“All courts shall remain reachable through their respective hotline numbers and shall monitor their respective email addresses during the suspension of court operations,” the SC said in a memorandum order.

Earlier, the Manila City Government announced the suspension of classes at all levels, both public and private, on Friday.
The local government unit (LGU) will also enforce a liquor ban within a 500-meter radius of Quiapo Church and along the Traslacion route.
The city government will likewise implement a total ban on the manufacture, sale, and use of fireworks and firecrackers from January 8 to January 9.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) will impose a gun ban in Manila City from January 8 to 10 as part of its full security plan. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
