Nazareno shirts and other merchandise enjoy brisk sales as January 9 draws near
Vendors in Recto and Quiapo in Manila have begun selling merchandise targeted for devotees of Jesus Nazareno as the feast day on January 9 draws near.
During the Traslacion or procession of the image of Jesus Nazareno on Friday, devotees are expected to wear colors associated with the Nazareno, such as maroon or gold.

Traders were seen in Recto and Quiapo displaying their wares such as T-shirts, scarves, headbands, and face towels, hoping to catch devotees' attention.

T-shirts are priced at P120-130, depending on the size; scarves cost P30; face towels at P20, and headbands going for P20.

The Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno or Quiapo Church earlier announced the schedule of activities in line with the upcoming celebration of the Feast of Jesus Nazareno:
- January 7: Pabihis sa Poong Jesus Nazareno at Quiapo Church
- January 7: Pahalik at Quirino Grandstand
- January 8: Panalangin sa Takipsilim at Quirino Grandstand
- January 9: Misa Mayor at Quirino Grandstand
- January 9: Traslacion or procession from Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church

The Philippine National Police said more or less 15,000 cops will be deployed to provide security for the event.
The Manila Police District reminded Nazareno devotees that the following items are prohibited during the Traslacion:
Firearms
Fireworks and pyrotechnics
Glass water canisters
Hoodies (should not be worn)
Caps or hats (should not be worn)
